The Current State of Covid-19 in Our School: When Will We Not Have Masks?
The pandemic has been going on for a while now and at this point it's going to have the same fate as the flu, a never ending endemic that's going to become a part of our everyday lives. But that probably doesn't mean that we will have to wear masks forever….. Right?
Well, currently at least, no. But maybe in the future.
“All students must wear masks inside the school building.” says Katie Burke, the district COVID-19 coordinator, “There's hope once the middle school and high school students become vaccinated (80%), masks will become optional. The elementary school kids will be masked for the rest of the school year until the vaccine is approved for people around that age group. No social distancing, no health check in the morning, but kids have to stay home while they're sick.”
To make it short, we must at least make sure that most of the students in WUHSMS are vaccinated before we can start going to school unmasked.
