Strong School Spirit
During Homecoming week October 4-9, students embraced school spirit and partook in themed festivities to show support for sports, typically dressing up for the “theme” of that day. We had many unique and outgoing outfits over the course of the week that certainly showed spirit, with more student participation than in past years.
On Monday, the “Neon” theme had hallways filled with bright clothing, and fun colored accessories. Tuesday’s “Sports jersey” theme made for a good show of favorite sport teams, while Wednesday’s “Hawaiian” theme had an overall relaxing and vacation-inspired vibe.
For Thursday, the chosen theme was “Vermont.” Students had many similar takes on what Vermont looked like. While most wore flannel shirts, jeans, and boots, there were some who took the extra step and even brought jugs of maple syrup to really capture the Vermont culture.
The finale for spirit week ended with a “Blackout” theme uniting the student body in a bold way, wearing mainly black clothing. Ironically, Friday was also picture day, which will surely make for a less colorful yearbook. This carried into the night, as the student section was filled to the brim with dark clothing and black eye paint to cheer on our Woodstock football team. Following Woodstock's win 54-0 against Oxbow, the homecoming dance took place at the high school the next night, with students showing off their red carpet attire and dance moves. Both events had a huge turnout, which made for a great night full of fun and high spirits.
