Reflecting on 2021

2021, how do you describe a year like this? 2021 had many bad aspects, but some of this past year taught us things we needed to learn a long time ago. Maybe we learned that even if we all have different political stand points, we were all scared of the same virus.

Yes, some people said it was fake and that it is just the flu, but I don’t think they actually thought that. I think they just didn’t want to agree with people who looked different or believed in something else so they chose the easy way: to fight about it. When they discovered a vaccine for Covid, everyone was a little nervous about getting it, which is fair because at first we didn’t know what it would do. But we did know it would help and that was what we needed. This year has taught us to cherish the time we have with people because one day they can be there and the next day they could be gone. We all know what death is, but until you experience it, I don’t think you can understand it. That is what 2020 and 2021 taught us; we can’t understand something until it’s happened to you, no matter what it is. So the next time you think about the past two years, don't think these were the worst years of your life, think about how much it taught us and how useful those lessons are.
