You may have noticed a new voice over the intercom. Donna Burkett is our new Registrar and Attendance clerk.
At 7:15 every morning, Donna starts her day by checking the messages to see who is out that day. As the Registrar/Attendance Clerk, her job is to keep track of students’ attendance and to keep track of students who are enrolling and unenrolling from the school. She said that now with Covid she has more students out of school with remote learning. For remote kids, she keeps track of their attendance online.
Donna said her favorite part about working here is being with the students and staff. The hardest part she said was tracking down the students who aren't here and why they aren't.
Students who don't tell her that they are not going to be here get an unexcused absence on their record. If she could change one part about her job she would "ask if people would email me when they are out, be proactive."
Donna says she chose to work here because of “the reputation of the school.” She is enjoying the job so far and says she is excited for the year.
"Thank you everybody for being so good at what you do," she said.
