On Wednesday, October 27, WUHS celebrated Halloween with the Best Wednesday Assembly which featured a costume contest, talent, raffles and some games. Best Wednesday is a Student Council run event that happens about once a month. The assembly started with mummification. A group of three students from each class and one faculty group were competing to see who could wrap one of their members the fastest in toilet paper. The faculty members ended up winning the competition. A flash mob of eight dinosaurs came out dancing to Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson's “Uptown Funk” and threw candy at the crowd. One of the dinosaurs was the superintendent!! It even got a little rowdy with catching the candy. There were struggles as students fought over the candy. Later there was a costume contest with over 30 contestants led by three plague doctors. The two best costumes chosen by clapping were Vector (June Dodson) from “Despicable me” and an Among Us character (Mrs.O’Neil). The winners received a prize of candy and a $10 gift card to the Farmers Market. Then senior Adrienne Guss serenaded the audience with Olivia Rodrigo’s “All I Want” and received a standing ovation for her performance. Six raffle prizes were given away over the course of the assembly consisting of Halloween Candy. The assembly ended with a competitive game of Knockout with three winners due to going into overtime.
