The lights will go down and the music will play at Green Mountain Union High School on December 11th and 12th. The Springfield Dance Factory will be performing The Nutcracker for the 30th year next month! Students and adults from all across Southern Vermont will take the stage on December 11th at 7pm and December 12th at 2pm to amaze the audience with their beauty and grace.
Dancers have been rehearsing on Sundays since October and the show is coming together. Many have been dancing for years and have moved up in the ranks from starting out as Mother Goose, Party Scene Children, or mice and are now some of the lead roles like Sugarplum Fairy and Snow Queen.
This year there are two WUHS students in the show: Anneka Yuengling and Tori McNamara. Anneka is dancing the roles of the Mouse King and Marzipan. Tori is dancing as one of the Mice and Spanish Dancers. Both have been dancing for many years and are excited to have a live audience again this year.
Over the past 30 years more than $20,000 of proceeds from The Nutcracker have been given to local arts organizations and hundreds of dancers have performed in the show.
Tickets cost $13 for adults and $8 for students/children and people are encouraged to purchase tickets ahead of time at: Tina's Hallmark and Woodbury Florists in Springfield or Sage Jewelry and Gifts and Blair Books in Chester or online using the following link - https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-nutcracker-tickets-214914895237.
