Alec Smail Published in VtDigger

Junior Journalism student Alec Smail's article "From Syria to America: One Family's Story" was published Sunday, December 11 in VtDigger as part of their Underground Workshop, a collaborative network of student journalists across Vermont started by Rowland Fellow Ben Heintz.

Alec published the initial story in our school newspaper on November 12 as part of his work in Journalism class. He then submitted it to VtDigger Underground Workshop for their New Vermonters series. After receiving feedback, he conducted a second interview with the Syrian family, made edits, participated in an evening Zoom Underground Workshop editing session with student editors, and then made final revisions before today's publication. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a number of articles by Buzz jouirnalists published in VtDigger as part of their Underground Workshop. Congratulations Alec!
