Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday the Buzz will be posting a Coronavirus Care Package. Our goal is to give you things to distract from the daily deluge of bad news and confusion. Think of these posts as a daily respite from COVID-19.

Virtual Escape Room

Escape rooms have become somewhat of a fad in recent years with many viable Escape Room Businesses cropping up across the country. But, in this time of global pandemic, it is suggested that we not spend time with others in confined spaces touching everything in sight in search for clues. However, with the help of Google Docs, the internet has found a way to develop a virtual Escape Room that you can play alone or with your friends. You can both work together to solve puzzles and hunt for clues as you complete a very complicated, but exciting, mission. (Just a note: I would sign out of your Google Accounts before you play this game or your Google Drive will be filled with random Escape Room-related Documents.)

Lizzo Tiny Desk Concert

For the second Pandemic Pick-Me-Up, I submit the stunning performance of Lizzo at NPR’s Tiny Desk. Her forceful and energetic set moves her audience into a state of quasi-religious joviality. Over the course of 17 minutes, Lizzo takes us on a journey of self-love and friendship that is heightened by her ability to connect with her audience, whether it be through complimenting an audience member whose defining characteristic is her “middle part” or by asking a baby to “hop on the mic” after the infant cried during her transition to the next song. If we don’t know what’s going on right now, we know Lizzo will shepherd us, and that is comforting. If we’re not sure how to feel, Lizzo can show us that we can be joyful. And, if we’re not sure what to do, Lizzo teaches us, at least for a little while, how to bop.
