On the Thursday following MLK day, January 23rd, students from Woodstock Union Middle and High School attended a play focused on standing up for what you believe in. Warriors Don’t Cry, a dramatized version of Melba Patillo Beals’s memoir, is performed through the eyes of a young activist who is facing some difficulty in letting her voice out.

The performance points out the strength and courage required for an activist to overcome hardship and engage an entire group in fighting alongside them. The play uses Pattillo’s memoir to show how, no matter what obstacles you face, you can achieve anything with a loud enough voice and enough patience.
