Senior Turf Wars

On Friday October 11, 2019 the 7 class of 2020 senior football players stood on the Woodstock Wasps field for their last game. However, not everyone got to play due to injuries.

Daniel Lessard, age 17, tore his hamstring and was out for the season. Although Dan was not able to play for his senior season of football, he is always at the practices and games to help the coaches and cheer on the rest of his team.

“Not being able to play was very hard to cope with this season, Even though I didn’t play against Springfield, I was still nervous,” Dan says. “I care about this team and I feel as if I am still playing with them.”

Trevor White, Woodstock’s quarterback, has been playing on the Woodstock WASP’s football field for the past 6 years. Trevor talked about how it was a very emotional night because his football career was coming to an end.

“It was a weird feeling, but also a lot of fear and change in the end of my football career,” Trevor says.

The Woodstock Football teams head coach Ramsey Worrell, had a great feeling before the game. Coach Ramsey said “before the game I felt optimistic. The players had a good week of practice, I liked our game plan for the night and it was going to be a great atmosphere for a game.”

Worrell said he felt regret after the game because he could not leave the seniors with one last win on their own field. He emphasized that he has had a great time teaching this young group of young men.

“I've had a fun year with a really good group of young men. Some see it as a disappointing year but I do not. I see it as a successful year. The players have had to deal with so much adversity and (this) may not show in the win loss record but it has shown in their attitude and their approach to practice and that’s all I can ask for!” Worrell said.
