World Language Club Participates in Pulsera Project

The World Language Club recently hosted the Pulsera Project which benefits struggling Nicaraguan and Guatemalan people. The bracelets (Pulseras) that the club sold support struggling families with a proper pay. The students from both the French and Spanish branches of World Language Club sold bracelets as well as handbags October first through the 15th. The bracelets were sold during ARE time and during 2nd lunch for the last week.

The Pulsera Project lasted two weeks and raised almost 500 dollars. The bracelets were five dollars each and the handbags were 10. The clubs do community service and as the Pulsera Project is a non-profit organization, it is a perfect chance for students to do community service and help people.

In the first week, the club did not sell as many bracelets and handbags as the had hoped to, according to Mar Menēndez-Baquero. “The goal is always to sell all of them.” says Mrs. Chaput, a Spanish teacher who is involved in the World Language Club.

WUHS participation in the Pulsera Project benefited the makers of the bracelets. The Pulsera Project buys all the bracelets from the Guatemalan and Nicaraguan people and distributes many bracelets to schools to sell. Each of the pulseras that was sold came with a tag with the picture of the individual person who made the bracelet or bag on it and a little information about them.
