Jingle All the Way

As December arrives many anticipate the arrival of Wassail Weekend. This annual event is a tradition in the town of Woodstock.

Some of the events over the weekend of December 9-10 included: The Wassail Craft fair, the Wassail Parade and the French Club crepe sale.

The Wassail Craft Fair was held in the Masonic hall. Here, vendors gathered to sell their goods, ranging from food, to knitting, to jewelry and soap. The Change The World Kids also made their annual appearance as a vendor at the craft fair.

Another tradition is the Wassail Weekend Parade. The parade goes through town, full of carolers, bands and horses in colorful garments.

One of the many students participating in the parade was freshman Lillie Tuckerman. “When you ride the horse in a parade, it helps them not to be as scared when you take them to shows,” she explains.

Another member of the parade was a part of the WUHSMS band. Flutist

Etta Warren enjoyed participating in the parade, “It’s been around for so long… To have a special weekend to celebrate the history is really important because people take the time to appreciate the beauty of the town.”

Although this year’s event has already passed, plans are already underway for next year.
