New Staff Profile: WUHSMS Welcomes First Associate Principal
Although new to the school, associate principal, Heather Lawler is already passionate about the Woodstock Union Middle and High School community.
Ms. Lawler is the first associate principal for the high school and middle school. As associate principal, Ms. Lawler has many jobs, including creating and maintaining a safe and supported space for students and teachers alike, creating opportunities for students beyond the classroom, and maintaining the middle school in the new combined 7-12 school system.
“I want to spend at least a portion of my day, everyday, in a classroom hanging out with students and teachers,” Lawler says.
In her time at WUHSMS so far, Ms.Lawler has participated in daily observations of classes and is particularly interested in increasing the number of seniors creating a senior project. Ms. Lawler really believes in the benefits of a “passion project” and hopes more seniors will take the opportunity to do so in the future.
Overall, with the introduction of WUHSMS’ transition to a 7-12 school, Ms. Lawler is enjoying filling this new role and we are glad to welcome her to our school community.
